Junior Captain – Harvey Lloyd – Willams
I am extremely proud to have been asked to be the Junior Captain at Market Harborough Golf club for 2017
I’ve been a member of the club for five years, playing as often as I can for the past three. I currently play off a handicap of 16 – coming down from my original handicap of 54. One of my golfing ambitions through the 2017 season is to get my handicap to single figures.
I was initially introduced to golf by my Dad at the age of about seven. I started by playing a local par 3 course in Northampton, which was an ideal introduction to the game and I think the par three academy course we now have here at the club is a fantastic asset for the juniors – not only for practising, but also enabling those players that are not quite ready to play on the full size course to be able to play on different golf holes in a course setting.
I believe that being a member of Market Harborough Golf Club has helped me develop as a person both on and off the course – it’s helped with the skills necessary for life – honesty, respect, cooperation and perseverance and as captain of the Junior section I will endeavour to promote these values with the other Junior members.
Last season I qualified for the Lee Westwood tour final and was able to represent MHGC at this prestigious event. I was winner of the MHGC junior player of the year 2016 and I will be trying again this year to hold on to the title.
When not playing golf I attend Welland Park Academy – where I am currently studying for my GCSEs, including Physical Education in which golf is one of my three sports. I enjoy football – playing for the Under 15s at Harborough Town Football club and play Badminton at a local Junior Badminton Club. I also represent the school in Rugby and Basketball.
